THE coastal suburb of Ocean Reef derived its name from a line of reefs offshore from Mullaloo. Situated 26km from the Perth GPO, Ocean Reef is home to over 8000 residents.
Local schools in the suburb include Ocean Reef Primary School, St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School, Ocean Reef Senior High School and Prendiville College.
According to Mr Kevin Colreavy, licensee for Geoff Baldwin.com, the suburb has a good mixture of young and old.
“I suppose Ocean Reef is a catchment area. So you get quite a lot of young families, as well as people who have lived there since Ocean Reef first began,” Mr Colreavy said.
Types of housing in the suburb range from four-bedroom family homes to over-55s villas. Mr Colreavy pointed out that property prices vary across the suburb.
“Properties with stunning ocean views can go well over million,” he said.
According to statistics obtained from REIWA, the median house price in Ocean Reef is about ,000, with the median weekly rent about .
There are about 2700 houses in the suburb.
In terms of of landmarks or attractions, Ocean Reef has its own boat harbour, which is easily accessed via Ocean Reef Road.
The suburb also has an Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club, which caters for anglers, power boating, sailing and diving.
Other amenities close by include Joondalup bus and train station, Hillarys Boat Harbour and Beaumaris City shopping precinct.
