THREE local soccer hopefuls have been included in this year’s National Training Centre squad.
As reported in the Canning Times in December, Lynwood Senior High School student Jacob Collard (15) of Canning Vale is among the 2010 intake in the high-performance squad.
He is joined by Willetton’s Hanafi Ghazali (17) and Sahr Musa (16), from Cannington, as NTC full scholarship holders.
As full scholarship holders, the trio train and play exclusively with the NTC side in the State League reserves competition.
The NTC program started in 2005 to help nationally identified athletes, and those with potential for identification, to best prepare for the game at the highest level.
The trio were chosen after open trials held last September and started training in October under head coach Kenny Lowe.
Collard has hopes of being selected to the Australian Institute of Sport before embarking on a top-level career in Australia or in the English Premier League.
The centre/midfielder also played in last year’s indigenous national championships.
