CROATIAN art, music, cinema, cartoons and food will be a big part of the 2010 Perth Royal Show with Croatia named as this year’s guest nation.
The Croatia 2010 project will include a special exhibit focused on the tourism, trade and culture of the Mediterranean country.
Croatian Ambassador to Australia Vicencije Biuk, who was in Perth for the announcement last week, said the exhibit would help West Australians learn about Croatian history, cuisine, arts, exports and holiday destinations.
Mr Biuk said the State’s strong Croatian community were big supporters of the show exhibit.
“We are anticipating a lot of involvement from the WA Croatian community as well as from other Croatian communities in Australia and businesses and from the Government of Croatia,” he said.
Royal Agricultural Society of WA president Tony Devitt said the initiative could create new commercial ties between Croatia and WA, and strengthen cultural links between the two.
“It offers Croatian businesses the opportunity to generate genuine trade links with local businesses,” Mr Devitt said.
The Perth Royal Show will run from September 25 to October 2 at the Claremont Showground.
