IT usually takes about six hours to drive from Armadale to Kalgoorlie but, on a lawnmower, it is more like six days.

Craig Alford and Andrew Fox are riding lawnmowers the entire 670km journey.

The business partners are taking part in the Rotary Ride for a Reason, raising money for mental health research and wheelchair-dependent families.

Mr Alford and Mr Fox left from Minnawarra Park last Sunday, stopping off at the Mundaring markets.

The Mundaring Rotary Club presented Mr Alford with a donation towards his fundraising effort.

Mr Alford said the lawnmowers travel at between 20 and 25km/h, but he had been working on increasing their capabilities to get them up to 30km/h.

He said the most difficult part of the journey would probably be boredom. The pair hoped to make it to Kalgoorlie by late today.
