Anarchy & Chaos at the Movies

14/12/2008

One day you're a young, apathetic person with no worries or concerns, the next minute you've got a list of pet peeves the size of the Big Banana and you will not let anyone get away with the tiniest, weenciest slight, perceived or otherwise. One day you realise this and it sends you in a spin.

For me, this realisation dawned at the cinema. Greater Union.... more »

Sketchy Details at Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School

1/09/2008

Maybe it was the company. Maybe it was Mondayitis. Maybe it was the late hour. Maybe it was me. Maybe it was them.

Whatever it was I can’t say that I enjoyed my experience at Dr Sketchy’s. I expected more. This is silly of me because expectations are often my downfall. What I’m trying to say is this: I did not enjoy my time at Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. more »

Walking (Running) the City to Surf

1/09/2008

For years, I have managed to successfully dodge the City to Surf.

It’s not that I don’t want to do it. It’s just that it seems like such hard work. Then there’s the cost involved and having to register and all this pre-planning and training that goes into it. Better to stay at home on a Sunday, sleep in and wake up to a warm cup of joe I thought. But something changed this.... more »

Inappropriate Places To Take Your Baby

17/07/2008

Excuse me for a minute while I deeply offend every parent in the world, but you and your baby are not welcome to go wherever you please.

There are limits.

Why are there limits? Why can’t babies go everywhere? Because it is just plain inappropriate.

For one thing, babies, and by babies I mean toddlers and even children under the age of 12, are known to make.... more »

Last Minute REVELATIONS...

11/07/2008

Bit late notice, but if you're bummin' around this weekend, or even tonight, you might want to wander by the Astor Cinema on Beaufort Street, Mt Lawley. That's where the 2008 Revelation Perth International Film Festival is playing this weekend. Actually, the film festival started a week ago - July 3 - but I forgot to mention it.

10 Things I Wish I Could Do... In Perth

7/07/2008

OK I admit it. I’m easily influenced by TV and movies. I watch Miami Ink and for two whole weeks I am determined to be a tattoo artist. I watch Winnie the Pooh and get a mad craving for hibernation and honey. And just this weekend I watch ‘Hell on Wheels’, a documentary about a group of women in Austin Texas who formed an all-girl roller derby, and you guessed it – I decide to take up.... more »

Cursed on Public Transport

20/06/2008

This is NOT my usual style of post. This is NOT about taking up a hobby. This is about the perils and 'excitement' of public transport in Thrillsville.

Now, everyone knows there is NO parking in Perth. No parking anywhere. You know it, I know it and someone named WILSON knows it. Wilson knows it and that is why he charges you a f***ing.... more »

Pink & the Aerial Silks

17/06/2008

Last year I saw Pink.

Pink, live in concert, at Challenge Stadium, on her I’m Not Dead tour.

I wasn’t a huge fan before then, in fact, before the concert, anytime I heard the song Get the Party Started I wanted to throw myself off the highest building (plummeting to certain death) screaming “Damn you Pink! I will not get this party started! I don’t care if.... more »
